How to Format Your Excel File

One row per tag. Each column is a data field. Include a header row so we know what each column represents. Only include the fields you need on the tag — not every tag has to be identical.

SC sales tax applies to local orders. Mixed configurations (some 1-hole, some 2-hole) within one order are fine. Note the config for each tag in your Excel file. Repeat customers: your layout stays on file so reorders are just a new Excel list.

What's the difference between the 1-hole and 2-hole configurations?

Both are the same stainless steel material and the same price. The 2-hole tag (1″ × 2.5″) is the most common for pipeline and process piping applications where the tag is wired through both holes for a secure attachment. The 1-hole tag (1″ × 3″) is slightly longer and works well for equipment, asset, and valve labeling where a single wire or bolt mount is preferred. If you're not sure which to use, go with the 2-hole.

Can each tag have completely different text?

Yes. Every tag in your order is individually programmed and engraved. You can have 200 tags with 200 unique serial numbers, descriptions, line IDs, and any other fields you need. That's exactly what the Excel format is for. There is no additional charge for unique content per tag.

How do I send my tag data?

Send an Excel file with one row per tag and one column for each field you need engraved. Include a header row so we can map the columns correctly. Common fields include Tag No., P&ID No., Line ID, Service Description, Size, Asset ID, and Location. You can use as many or as few fields as your tags require. Attach the file to your quote request using the form below.

Will the engraving hold up outdoors?

Yes. Laser engraving on stainless steel physically removes material from the surface. There is no ink, paint, or adhesive to peel, fade, or wash away. The result is a permanent, UV-stable mark that will outlast the tag itself under normal industrial conditions. Both the 304 and 316 alloys are rated for outdoor use.

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no hard minimum, but the standard per-tag rate of $5.00 applies at 50 tags or more. For smaller runs, contact us with your quantity and we'll send a quote. Setup time for smaller batches is the same so the per-tag cost is higher, but we're happy to run them.

Can you match a specific tag layout or template we already use?

Yes. If you have an existing tag standard, a drawing, or even a photo of a tag you want to match, send it along with your quote request. We'll replicate the layout and send a proof for approval before we run the batch.

Can you add a logo or border to the tags?

Yes. Logos, borders, symbols, and custom graphics can be added to any tag. Send your logo as a vector file (.SVG, .AI, or print-quality .PDF) or a high-resolution .PNG with a transparent background. We'll incorporate it into the proof.

How long does production take?

Most orders ship or are ready for pickup within 5 to 10 business days after proof approval. Larger batches may take longer. If you have a hard deadline, mention it in your request and we'll let you know if we can meet it before you commit.
